New Zealand city?
I'm looking for the name of the city in New Zealnd that is home to a dam, and is a water sports destination spot. It has a population under 1000, and starts with "wanga-something". Any help?
Do you mean Wanganui? Although this town has more than 1000 pop. It is on the Wanganui river.

Ooooh the only Wanga I think of it Wanganui, but thats got the Wanganui River…not sure about a damn.

If it has a population under 1000 its not a city!
There are not that many Dams in NZ…I lived in Oamaru where there are a couple of dams on the Waitaki River, which is upstream of Oamaru….however I can't think of any towns up the valley starting with that. The dams are the Waitaki and the Benmore, so again no help on that front.
Unless you mean Wanaka, which is larger than 1000, has no dam, but has lots of water sports and is near Queenstown.
